Best Pie Crust

Ingredients ½ cup vegetable shortening 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour ½ teaspoon salt ½ cup cold water

Directions Using a pastry blender or fork, thoroughly mix the flour, salt, and shortening until the mixture is very crumbly.  

Using a fork, gently mix in as much water as necessary to make the mixture hold together.  

Gently roll out on a pastry cloth dusted with flour until it's approximately an inch bigger than the pie plate.  

Gently fold in half, transfer to a pie plate, and then unfurl. Put in the pan. Use a tiny knife to trim a single-crust pie to about 1/2 inch beyond the rim. Pinch and fold to lift the pie's edge off the rim.
