Grandma's Apple Pie Recipe Classic Taste

Ingredients: – 6-8 medium-sized apples (such as Granny Smith or Honeycrisp) – 1 cup granulated sugar – 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour – 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon – 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg

– 1 tablespoon lemon juice – 1 teaspoon vanilla extract – 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, diced – 1 double pie crust (homemade or store-bought)

Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Roll out half of the pie crust and line a 9-inch pie dish.  Peel, core, and thinly slice the apples. In a large bowl, toss the apples with sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, lemon juice, and vanilla extract until well coated.

Pour the apple mixture into the prepared pie crust, spreading evenly. Dot the top with diced butter.  Roll out the remaining pie crust and place it over the filling. Trim and crimp the edges to seal the pie.

Cut slits in the top crust to allow steam to escape. Optionally, brush the top crust with milk or beaten egg for a golden finish.

Place the pie on a baking sheet to catch any drips and bake for 45-50 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the filling is bubbling.

Allow the pie to cool for at least 1 hour before serving. Serve slices with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for the perfect finishing touch.
