Trumpet honeysuckle, bee balm, and hummingbird sage have more nectar than hybrids and exotics. Plant native nectar-rich plants with red or orange tubular flowers to attract hummingbirds.  

Key guidelines for interacting with them: Fill a feeder or garden with nectar and nectar-rich plants. Regularly replace food  

Keep bird feeders clean and avoid pesticides. Only put water or hummingbird food in bird feeders.

Hummingbirds prefer predator-free areas to dine, according to Humanesociety.org. Stray cats are a major predator. Feeders should be 12 feet from undergrowth, evergreens, and bushes. Birds can swiftly fly 12 feet to safety, but predators cannot hide within feeder range.
